Gregg McCrary (62) bor i Fredericksburg, Virginia i USA.
Svarene hans finner du her:
First I want to thank everyone for their questions. I have read each one of them. These include questions from Stian, Per, Ann and Daniel from Bergen, Tony from Kongsvinger, Nick from Flisa, Vegard from Eidsvoll, Eva from Bronnoysund, Emil from Trondheim, Angela, Ingela and Kristel from Havstad, Kris form Oslo, Annette from Drammen, Hilde from Sandnessjoen, Gunnar from Kolbtn, and Lena from Kvernaland.
I enjoyed visiting Norway very much and hope to return before long. As I traveled around your country I found everyone to be very welcoming and I greatly appreciated that.
As far as working for the FBI is concerned, you have to be a United States Citizen in order to work for the FBI. Women are very much a part of the FBI. For more information regarding the FBI you can go to their website at www.fbi.gov. FBI profilers are taken from the ranks of FBI Agents who have proven themselves in the field as successful and seasoned investigators.
I had over 15 years experience as an FBI field agent, working violent crime cases including organized crime in New York, Detroit and Chicago. I also did some undercover work and was a SWAT team leader for 7 years. A SWAT team is a tactical team that is called in to make arrests in dangerous situations. The difference between the CIA and the FBI is that the CIA collects intelligence and engages in espionage work outside of the United States while the FBI gathers intelligence and conducts counter-espionage work within the United States. The FBI also investigates many crimes and has a law enforcement function which the CIA does not.
There are more serial killers in the U.S. than in Norway, that's for sure. One reason is we have many more people in the United States (about 300 million) than there are in Norway (about 4 million). But that does not explain it all.
The bottom line is that while other countries have more crime than does the United States, we have a higher rate of violent crime than do other countries. There is much speculation about why that is, but the bottom line is that no one knows for certain.
There is a tentative link between animal cruelty in juveniles and later violent behavior. This is especially true when the violence is targeted against socially valued animals such as dogs, cats or other domesticated animals considered as pets.
Regarding the Egil case, one person wondered why I did not interview more people who knew Egil. That is a good question as it is important to understand as much about the victim as possible. We call that "victimology" or the study of the victim. Many times that gets too little attention in investigations. The answer is that the police had done a good deal of that and I learned the results of their investigation by working with the police so there was no need for me to do what had already been done.
Thank you again for your good questions.
